Sefton Borough Council
To generate a user friendly website, updatable by local staff, that shows a digital map of the area, plotting all civic war memorials, incorporating various pop-up menus to include historical photographs and information, as well similarly marking the homes of the fallen men of the First World War from the borough of Sefton.
To acknowledge the level of information available in the project that would not be readily accessible on a map, a searchable database facility was also developed. To provide details about the soldiers being commemorated such as rank, service record including any military awards, age, home address, important dates and with portrait pictures were available.
Data would be collated by researchers and children from Sefton Borough schools as part of a wider project initiative and then uploaded to database held by Sefton Council. Although images of memorials would be photographed by web designer unless appropriate quality photographs provided by Council engagement team.
Links to other commemorative sites and even the acclaimed animated game Valiant Hearts - The Great War, a story of one French man's experiences of the brutality and sadness of war would be incorporated.
On GTMetrics site performance test, the proposed site rated 'A' as compared to the clients own site of 'F'.
